However, when they contact us, they were facing challenges related to poor mold quality and high production scrap rates. The issue stemmed from the fact that all mobile phone cases must use flexible materials, with TPE being the preferred choice for protective frame due to its shock resistance properties. Howevery, due there is side hole for the charging ports and button, all products require a four-side slider structure. A slider structure consists of two completely independent steel component that create a gap when they closed. The precision of the mold determines the size of this split line, with some factories achieving gaps of 0.01mm or 0.02mm, or even smaller.Mobifox was in hope to find a solution that that this split line be not easy visible. Frankly speaking, achieving an almost invisible gap in TPE/TPU soft rubber, which has good fluidity, is indeed a challenging task.
Our team discussed various solutions during the meeting and ultimately decided to focus on continuous improvement through different processing step. First, we ensured consistent dimensions for each slider through CNC processing, controlling the processing tolorence by 0.005mm using our precision CNC machines. The most important is that we need fix the slider with special fixtures, confirmed the steps by fingurer touch, and processed the steps and gaps to 0.002mm using sandpaper and abrasive paste. After conducting mold trials to confirm the size of the steps and split line, we made optimizations and adjustments. After two mold trials, we achieved a perfect result. The mobilefox team informed us that they were the best samples they had ever received the sample, which greatly encouraged and excited our team.
